Gas South District

Duluth, GA

Landscape Architect: Lose Design, Lawrenceville, GA

Hardscape Contractor: Brightview Landscape Development, Tucker, GA

Gas South District (formerly known as Infinite Energy Center) started a major renovation and expansion in 2019 to encompass new building expansions and exterior hardscape work. Georgia Precast Solutions (GPS) was asked to assist Lose Design during the hardscape design development stage with precast concrete detailing for wall panels and copings, custom seat walls, planters, and miscellaneous furnishing designs needed for a complete, workable scope. A custom aggregate was selected for the precast concrete to give the hardscape unique aesthetics. Conduit for lighting and other details were incorporated in the precast furnishings. GPS also assisted Brightview Landscape’s team in installation details for this complex installation. Production of comprehensive shop and field drawings were a key element of a successful installation which spanned over a year during different phases. This teamwork has resulted in a compelling presentation of precast concrete furnishings providing for an inviting plaza for guests.

Project will commence in December 2022.

Avondale Town Green Park

Avondale Estates, GA

Landscape Architect: Site Solutions, Atlanta, GA

Hardscape Contractor: Ruppert Landscape, Lilburn, GA

Site Solutions specified Georgia Precast Solution’s precast concrete for the radius seat walls, planter/sculpture planter, ellipse fountain walls, and stairs for this unique park. A pale color in light sandblast finish texture was selected so the seat walls would not absorb heat. The precast concrete was manufactured in a temperature-controlled facility so that a consistent color and finish texture could be maintained throughout production. These hardscape furnishings provided an adaptable open space for all kinds of events, ranging from small private parties to community-wide celebrations. GPS worked closely with Ruppert Landscape’s installation team to plan out the logistics of piece delivery so installation would remain on schedule. Radius seat walls required prior planning with careful review of field drawings and job conditions regarding elevation changes and layout.

Lawrenceville Arts Center

Lawrenceville, GA

Landscape Architect: Stevens & Wilkinson, Atlanta, GA

The Lawrenceville Arts Center, Gwinnett County’s newest performance facility, opened its doors to the public in 2021. Developed through the combined efforts of Aurora Theatre and the City of Lawrenceville, the complex is located at the corner of East Pike and North Clayton streets in the heart of the city’s historic downtown area. The architect wanted to provide an area to host both indoor and outdoor performances, but heavy traffic on East Pike Street posed planning and security challenges for outdoor events. A solution was needed to provide for the efficient movement of outdoor seating and the necessary blocking of unrestricted entry of wayward vehicles. Hence, the owner reached out to Georgia Precast Solutions (GPS) to see if we could provide them with precast concrete planters that could be easily moved, with plantings, with a pallet hand truck. GPS provided our Alpine moveable planter with stainless steel embeds at the base with notches for a standard 48” long x 27” wide opening for movement with a pallet hand truck. The planters were 48” square x 36” high with light sandblast finish. Planters were placed in key places to assist with access control and can be moved when necessary for venue access.
